AN. Sittway. August 4, 2020.

A 17 years old Ma Wa Thone stepped on landmine near the Myanmar military checkpoint near Zu Kaing village in Ann township, Rakhine State and died on the way to the military hospital on August 3.

Local charity volunteer U Myo Lwin in Ann told our news she was mentally ill and was wandering in the eastward of Zu Kaing village and then reaching closer to the military checkpoint and then the mine exploded and wounded her seriously.

She was taken to the military hospital by the military truck and died on the way to Ann.

She lived with her parents in Zu Kaing village.

Two village men in Zu Khaing were killed by the landmines and injured another villager on July 30.

Landmines are planted everywhere in Rakhine State but none of the organizations educate the civilian population for danger and clearing the landmines.
