A Police Sergeant Was Stabbed and Killed in Capital City of Rakhine State, Myanmar

Local residents reported a police sergeant was stabbed and killed in Sittway, capital city of Rakhine State, yesterday evening. 

 

Two unidentified knife men attacked and stabbed Sergeant Maung Maung Than, 40, at his resident in Ma Kay Myaing Ward at 8 pm yesterday. The knives went through his left side of chest and rib. He died at the hospital. 

 

He worked at the Police Station No. 1 where many accused of Arakan Army affiliated are interrogated and detained. 

 

Local people said he did not many disputed enemies with neighbors and town residents.

 

No one can tell why he was stabbed and killed, and no further information is available for crime suspects. 

 

Similarly, a police officer was stabbed and killed in downtown Kyauktaw last month.

 

Security is Rakahine State has been detreating since December in Sittway and northern Rakhine, and knife attacks on government soldiers and police officers are increasing in this year. 

 

A private bank was also robbed in Sittway last month.
