Landmine Injured a Villager in Rakhine State

A landmine exploded and injured a man in Pannaygun township area on April 29

U Kyaw Win, 57, from Buddaw village steps on a thin iron string in the mountain when he goes to his Paan leaf farm. Then the mine exploded and hit his legs and stomach. 

The village Chairman U Maung Kyaw Haling said, “He goes to his farm in morning. The explosion is heard. The villagers go to there and find out he is wounded.” 

U Maung Kyaw Haling is taken to Yawtayork village clinic, about 12 miles from the village. 

Arakan Army and Myanmar Army was fighting near the village several weeks ago. At the present time, Myanmar military are patrolling near the village

Local people have reported they saw Myanmar Army planted panty\nof landmines in the mountains and forests.

They say they do not see any AA troop activity in these days

Myanmar Army has laid down many landmines in Mrauk U,Kyawtaw, Pannaygun, Rathedaung, Minbya, Maungdaw, and Buthidaung areas, especially in forests and mountains, suspicious of AA mobilizations. 

Last month, a landmine hit and killed a man and injured two in Mrauk U. 

Local people are worry they cannot go to the mountains and forests to look for foods and cutting firewood where mushroom of landmines are hiding in the grounds.
